Robot-building enthusiasts from all the Baltic states take part in the Latvian Robotics Championship. The aim of the event is to promote children’s and young people’s interest in engineering and robotics, which is one of the fastest growing fields in the world. Latvian robotics enthusiasts have taken part and won in such prestigious robotics competitions as Robotex in Estonia, RobotChallenge in Austria, RoboGames in the USA and the International Robot Sumo Tournament in Japan, demonstrating competitiveness at world level.
This year more than 200 robots from Latvia competed in all events together at the competition, and in fierce competition our team’s representatives managed to win several prize places!
In the “Mini Sumo” event – Linda Madelāne won 1st place, winning absolutely all her fights(!), Iļja Isajevs won 3rd place, while Matīss Buks finished in 4th place and Lauris Matisāns in 5th place!
Armands Upenieks won 3rd place in the “Mini Sumo” PRO event, yielding only to the 2016 champion of “RobotChallenge Austria”! (P.S. it should be noted that the champion competed with 2 robots, which won 1st and 2nd places)!

Thank you to all participants for preparing for the competition, thank you to the parents for the support, thank you to Armands and Linards for the work put into preparing the team!
