On 6 April 2019 the robotics competition “Sun robot battle 2019” took place in Šiauliai (Lithuania), in which a team from the Preiļi Robotics Club (PRK) took part for the 2nd time. Edīte Meikulāne, Rinalds Pākste, Solvita Ragauša, Intars Matisāns, Patrīcija Reščenko, Ralfs Šņepsts, Armands Upenieks, Matīss Dambītis and Kārlis Pīgožnis went to this year’s competition. The team members took part in the Folkrace, MiniSumo, Line following and Line following with turbine events.

As in other competitions this season, there was good success. In the Folkrace event, 1st place went to Edīte Meikulāne with her robot “Osleya”!
2nd place went to the T-1 Line follower with turbine built by Armands, Matīss and Kārlis.
Meanwhile, in fierce competition in the Mini sumo event, Rinalds Pākste finished just behind the podium – in 4th place.

Our team members gave demonstration bouts in 2 events. Armands and Matīss demonstrated the Mega sumo robots that were prepared for the competition in Riga, in the Robotu skola workshop. Edīte, Intars and Rinalds, meanwhile, demonstrated our iRobot sumo robots.

Thank you to all the participants and advisers for the time and work put into preparing for the competition. Good luck in the coming competitions – the next one is on 27 April, Baltic robot sumo / Latvian Robotics Championship in Malta!
