PRK club members, representing the Latvian national team, compete in the world’s most prestigious robotics competition in Japan

From 4 to 8 December 2025 the world’s most prestigious sumo robot competition took place in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, for which the Latvian team had won several tickets. To obtain a ticket to the competition in Japan, you have to win at other competitions around the world that have been authorised by the Japanese organisers.

We are glad that the Latvian team also included graduates of our school, long-time friends of the PRK club – Matīss Buks and Armands Upenieks.

The Latvian team went to Japan with several Mini sumo and Mega sumo robots. Although the competition was strong, 1 robot managed to fight its way to the podium –
At the Japanese robotics competition 3rd place in the Mini sumo event was won by Matīss Buks in cooperation with Armands Upenieks!

Congratulations to the winners!

Juris Erts, head of the PRK club
