Preiļi Robotics Club team wins the “Sigulda Robot Cup 2017”
On 25 February 2017 the “Sigulda Robot Cup 2017” took place in Sigulda, with members of the Preiļi Robotics Club taking part. 16 participants from Preiļi took part in the competition in various events with 24 robots, including MiniSumo, line following, folkrace, Lego Sumo and the electronics exhibition.
It should be noted that the line followers and folkrace robots were designed and built by the participants themselves, including bodies modelled in 3D programs and printed with a 3D printer. In the Mini Sumo competition, on the other hand, SumoBoy robots constructed by the RTU robotics club were used, and only Lego parts were allowed in building the Lego sumo robots.
The team consisted of Aldis Buks, Armands Upenieks, Linards Šmeiksts, Matīss Dambītis, Matīss Buks, Ilja Isajevs, Eduards Lipiniks, Lauris Matisāns, Iļja Martinovs, Toms Vilcāns, Jānis Ziemelis, Reinis Ķiberis, Valdis Mihailovs, Solvita Ragauša, Santa Vojevodska, Agris Vojevodskis, Guntis Bogotais and Egīls Sirmais.

The competition in Sigulda is one of the biggest robotics competitions held in Latvia, and it takes place in cooperation with the State Education Content Centre (VISC). This year 208 robots were registered for the competition. Thank you to the organisers for the work put into organising the event!
The Preiļi Robotics Club sessions take place at the Jānis Eglītis Preiļi State Gymnasium. Thank you to the graduates of the gymnasium, now RTU students, Armands Upenieks and Linards Šmeiksts, for the work they put into advising the pupils!
