Preiļi Robotics Club members represent Latvia at the RobotChallenge competition in China!

Preiļi Robotics Club members Armands Upenieks and Matīss Buks, together with 3 other robot builders (Aleksandrs Tikačovs, Uģis Bergfelds and Toms Bergfelds), on 10–12 August represented Latvia and the team “Robotu Skola” at one of the largest robotics competitions in the world, “RobotChallenge 2018” (in Beijing, China).

About 1500 robots from 30 countries took part in the competition. Representatives of the Preiļi Robotics Club took part with 5 Mini Sumo robots and one Micro Sumo. It should be noted that this was the first competition for Micro Sumo. The best result for the PRK members was reaching the Mini Sumo quarter-finals with the robot “BOLT”. The robots “MA” and “BU” reached the last 16. In the Mini Sumo competition another Latvian, Aleksandrs, did better, fighting his way to the semi-finals and finally finishing 4th.

The Nano Sumo (2.5×2.5×2.5 cm, 25 g) built by Aleksandrs Tikačovs and Uģis Bergfelds won first place in its category, and with the Micro Sumo (5x5x5 cm, 100 g) 3rd place.
