Outstanding success for Preiļi robotics enthusiasts at the international robotics competition “Robotex 2022” in Tallinn!
On 25–26 November 2022, one of the largest robotics competitions in Europe, “Robotex 2022” in the Estonian capital Tallinn, took place (at the Saku Suurhall sports hall). After a break of 2 years, the Preiļi Robotics Club (PRK)/Robotu skola team also took part, this time made up of the most experienced robot builders – Armands Upenieks, Matīss Buks and Aldis Buks. In 2018 and 2019 our team members had climbed to the top step of the podium in the Folkrace and Mini sumo events, so it was a great challenge to maintain the “raised bar”.
Although the competition was fairly strong, experience and hard work bore fruit and Latvia’s honour was well defended – 1st and 2nd place were won in Folkrace and 1st and 3rd place in Mini sumo. With this success Armands, Matīss and Aldis have become three-time Robotex champions in Folkrace and Mini sumo!
Unlike at Robotex 2018 and Robotex 2019, this time 4 of the 6 podium places were won, so this year the “bar has been raised” even higher!
We wish good luck in the next competitions too, both in Latvia and beyond its borders!
