Good start to the 2020/2021 season for the PRK team at the Jelgava Robotics Championship 2020
On 5 September 2020, the 1st round of the 14th Latvian Robotics Championship (2020/2021 season) took place – the Jelgava Robotics Championship. In view of the situation in Latvia and the world, competitions are being organised in smaller rounds in order to limit the number of participants. This year the Latvian competitions will be held in 8 rounds and participants from neighbouring countries will not be invited.
The Preiļi Robotics Club (PRK) team went to the Jelgava competition in a comparatively small group – Dāvids Latvelis, Annija Anspoka, Solvita Ragauša, Egils Sirmais, Ralfs Šņepsts, Rinalds Ivanovs, Dinārs Kemzāns, Patrīcija Reščenko, Aldis Buks and the graduates Edīte Meikulāne, Armands Upenieks, Matīss Buks (Armands and Matīss also represent the Robotu Skola team).
As the competition took place at the end of the very first week of the school year, the preparation time for the first competition was fairly short, but the results are quite encouraging.
At the first competition, members of our team managed to win several prize places:
In FolkRace, Rinalds Ivanovs and Armands Upenieks won shared 2nd place.
In iRobot Sumo, Edīte Meikulāne won 1st place, Annija Anspoka (10.A) together with Edīte took 2nd place and Egīls Sirmais (12.D) 3rd place.
In line following for pupils, Solvita Ragauša (12.D) won 1st place, Dinārs Kemzāns (11.D) 2nd place and Ralfs Šņepsts (12.V) 3rd place.
In Mini Sumo, PRO group, Matīss Buks and Armands Upenieks won 1st and 2nd place.
In Mini Sumo, pupils’ group, Ralfs Šņepsts (12.V) won 1st place.
Thank you to the participants and coaches for the work they put in preparing for the competition.
