Excellent success at the international robotics competition “Robotiada 2017” in Vilnius!
On 25 March 2017 the robotics competition “Robotiada 2017”, the biggest robotics competition in Lithuania, took place in Vilnius (“Siemens Arena“).
Members of the Preiļi Robotics Club also took part in this competition with 10 robots. The Preiļi Robotics Club was represented by Matīss Buks, Iļja Martinovs, Iļja Isajevs, Linards Šmeiksts, Armands Upenieks and Aldis Buks. The team took part with five robots in the folkrace event, with four robots in the MiniSumo event and with one robot in the iRobot Sumo event. To take part in the iRobot competition event, an iRobot vacuum cleaner has to be rebuilt into a competition robot. It should be added that we took part in this event for the first time.
Very good success was achieved, and for the first time the members of the Preiļi Robotics Club won prize places at an international competition, taking the entire podium of the folkrace event!
In the folkrace event Matīss Buks (grade 10.V) won 1st place and 2nd place, and Armands Upenieks – 3rd place. Linards Šmeiksts won 4th place with the iRobot Sumo robot built by Armands Upenieks.
Good luck in the upcoming competitions!
Armands Upenieks,
