3rd place at the robotics hackathon in Ventspils and success at the robotics championship!
From 21 to 23 March a combined team of the Preiļi Robotics Club (PRK) and ARPC “Zeimuļs” took part successfully in the Ventspils stage of the Latvian Robotics Championship, which was one of the stages of the 17th Latvian Robotics Championship, as well as in the antweight robot-building Hackathon that was held. At the Ventspils hackathon about 3 days were given to build an antweight robot. This is a remote-controlled robot whose aim is to defeat the opponent’s robot by destroying it or pushing it into a pit.
After the competition Markuss Prikuls and Jānis Bērzinieks said: “It was quite exciting and interesting to build a robot in three days! Despite having to give up sleep at night to build the robot, we were able to learn even more skills such as soldering and 3D modelling, and to become even more skilled with tools such as the angle grinder, drill, die grinder and electric screwdriver” .
In total, the members of the combined PRK and ARPC “Zeimuļs” team brought back several prize places from the Ventspils championship:
1st place – Jānis Bērzinieks, Elgars Žikars – Minisumo pupils
1st place – Edmunds Kadakovskis, Jānis Bērzinieks – Minisumo PRO
3rd place – Markuss Prikuls – Minisumo pupils
3rd place ARPC “Zeimuļs” and PRK combined team – Hackathon
Thank you to ARPC “Zeimuļs” teacher Edmunds Kadakovskis for the pupils’ team’s successful participation in the competition.
