12th Latvian Robotics Championship round held in Malta
On 27 April 2019 a team of Preiļi robotics enthusiasts travelled to Malta in Rēzekne Municipality, where the latest round of the Latvian Robotics Championship took place in the multifunctional sports hall. This was also the Baltic Robot Sumo competition, in which Megasumo robot builders fought for an invitation to the world’s largest Megasumo competition in Japan.
In the PRK (Preiļi Robotics Club) team, the best results were achieved by the Folkrace robots built by Matīss and Aldis, which took all the top places in the competition: 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place respectively!
The competition also brought three 3rd places – Edīte Meikulāne in the iRobot event, Egils Sirmais in the pupils’ Minisumo event, and Armands Upenieks, Matīss and Aldis Buks in the Minisumo amateur PRO group.
Margarita Džeriņa won two 4th places – in the Line following (without turbine) event for pupils and in the iRobot event.
Rinalds Pākste won 5th place in the Minisumo event.
Although Armands Upenieks and Matīss Dambītis fought hard at the Megasumo ring, they did not manage to win a ticket to Japan at this competition. Let us wish them luck in the next ones!
Thank you to all the participants and advisers for preparing for the competition.
The next round of Latvian robotics competitions, and the last one of this year, will take place on 11 May in Riga, at RTU.
